What we do

With a clear public mandate and investment independence, the Energy Security Corporation co-invests with the private sector to accelerate the delivery of critical energy infrastructure - securing the clean energy system NSW needs, now and into the future.

Targeted, catalytic investment

Backed by $1 billion in seed funding, we co-invest in projects that strengthen the reliability and security of NSW’s electricity system.  With the financial flexibility to use equity, debt, and hybrid instruments, with concessionality, we can help close financing gaps and move projects forward.  We invest between $25 million to $150 million per project, targeting initiatives that need flexible capital to reach financial close.

Our approach

NSW’s energy transformation is a shared effort. We work closely with government, industry and the private sector to identify projects that will strengthen NSW’s electricity system. Our role is to enable, not compete with, the private sector. By co-investing with private developers and private financers, we accelerate investment in proven, large-scale infrastructure critical to a modern, reliable and secure energy system for NSW.

Financial flexibility

We use fit-for-purpose finance, from concessional terms to risk-sharing structures, to close investment gaps and move priority projects forward.

Coordinated action

We align and coordinate with key government entities to anticipate system needs and accelerate capital into the infrastructure that underpins a secure and reliable electricity system.

Decisive investment

We make independent, commercially rigorous investment decisions with pace and clarity, targeting sustainable returns and long-term energy security for NSW.

Investment priorities
