Paul Peters, Chief Executive Officer

Paul is an entrepreneurial founder with over two decades of senior executive experience across energy, infrastructure, advisory and finance.  He has founded and led businesses that drive the clean energy transition, including Novo Advisors, Verdia and GVP Capital, delivering large-scale energy and infrastructure projects across Australia and Asia.  

In his role as CEO, Paul is leading the establishment of the ESC, now actively screening projects in large-scale storage and critical enabling infrastructure to support NSW’s energy transformation.

Peter Crimp, Chief Finance and Operations Officer

Peter is an accomplished finance professional and executive leader with expertise across public and private sectors, notably in public transport and telecommunications. Most recently, Peter held CFO roles in NSW Government transport agencies including the Transport Asset Holding Entity, and has also undertaken Interim Executive roles within the NSW Government.  In his role as the ESC’s CFOO, Peter provides strategic financial leadership to develop and manage financial operations, including the implementation of compliant finance policies, procedures and information systems. He is also responsible for establishing the ESC’s corporate services, such as procurement and IT.

Laurence Street, General Counsel and Chief Risk Officer

Laurence is an expert in corporate governance and legal practice, having worked as a commercial director and in-house lawyer at CSIRO, specialising in the climate and energy technology sectors. He also serves on the Boards of the collaborative university investment fund, Uniseed and the Goulburn Community Co-operative solar farm. At the ESC, Laurence is the primary legal advisor, providing strategic direction and leadership regarding the establishment of legal and risk management functions. He also provides legal, regulatory and governance advice to our CEO, team and Board.

Kim Nguyen, Executive Director, Investments

Kim has assessed and managed investments in global energy and infrastructure across Australia, the United Kingdom, Europe, North America and South America, spanning roads, ports, telecommunications and energy assets. Additionally, she has significant funds management experience - including previous roles at Foresight Group, Macquarie Capital, Hastings Funds Management and Origin Energy, and establishing her own advisory consultancy. As the ESC’s Executive Director, Investments, Kim leads the development of the ESC’s pipeline of investment opportunities and investment operations.

Lillian Fung, Investment Director

Lillian has a proven history of securing funding and capital for major renewable energy, social and transport infrastructure projects in Australia and New Zealand. Her professional background includes roles at Capella Capital, Sydney Water and the Clean Energy Finance Corporation, complemented by extensive corporate and project finance experience gained at leading Australian banks. Most recently, she served as an Investment Director at Pacific Partnerships, specialising in renewable energy. At the ESC, Lillian is key to strategic investment decisions, working with the Executive Director to build the investment pipeline and execute opportunities.

Abi Sexton, Marketing and Communications Lead

Abi is a strategic marketing and communications leader with a strong track record of delivering high-impact campaigns across the public, private and non-profit sectors in Australia and the UK. She brings deep expertise in energy and climate communications, having held marketing and engagement roles at the NSW Government on the NSW Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap and WWF-Australia. 

At the ESC, Abi leads the organisation’s communications function - shaping brand identity, driving thought leadership and media engagement, and overseeing how its story is shared and amplified.

Michael Lewis, Finance Manager

Michael is an experienced finance and project delivery leader with a strong track record across both the public and private sectors. He has led major finance functions and system transformations - most recently at the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water. Michael also brings deep expertise in financial management across the energy and banking sectors, having held previous roles at Westpac, HSBC and E.ON Energy UK. In his role as Finance Manager at the Energy Security Corporation, Michael plays a pivotal role in establishing and maintaining the ESC’s finance operation function, and providing strategic advice, analysis and oversight.
